Child and adolescent Therapy

There are many reasons why a child may benefit from working with a Psychologist.  At Seasons Allied Health we offer individual and family psychological treatment for a broad range of common childhood emotional, behavioural, and social problems including:

  • Mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
  • Adjustment difficulties including grief and loss, and family separation.
  • Social skill development such as problem solving, friendship skills, assertiveness, resilience building, and coping with bullying.
  • Challenging behaviours including anger/aggression, risk taking behaviour.
  • Other problems such as learning play skills, toileting issues, and school refusal.

A range of evidence based practices are utilized by our Psychologist with a strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and play based interventions.  Therapy is provided in a safe, and confidential space with an understanding of each child’s individual and unique developmental and personal needs.  At Seasons Allied Health we work collaboratively with caregivers and recognize the important role that the parent/ child relationship plays in improved well-being.

Our Psychologists also have accreditation for a number of evidence based group and community programs including the Cool Kids Framework, and Westmead Feelings Program.

Individual counseling will typically last 50 mins either weekly or fortnightly, with realistic and recommended timeframes discussed after initial assessment (1-2 sessions)
